On Route From Anchorage
Beluga Point Lookout
As you travel south from Anchorage, the Seward Highway hugs the narrow waterway called the Turnagain Arm. The Beluga Point lookout is located near the 110 mile marker on Seward highway, and offers incredible views of the inlet. It is named after the white whales that can be spotted when tides are high from mid July through August.
Alyeska Aerial Tram
Enjoy a 7 minute Tram ride up to the viewing deck at about 2,300 feet above sea level! From here you are treated with breathtaking panoramic views of mountains, hanging glaciers, streams, spruce, and an array of wildlife.
Portage Glacier
One of the most visited glaciers in Alaska, the Portage Glacier is famous for its use by the Alaskan Natives and Gold Rush pioneers to “portage” between Prince William Sound and Turnagain Arm.
The glacier can be viewed via short, steep, hike through Portage Pass, or with a 1 hour Portage Glacier Cruise Tour!

Things To Do Around Seward
The unique town of Seward hosts plenty of outdoor adventure, wildlife, and glaciers, as well as local art and amazing food! Seward is the mural capitol of Alaska, so take a walk and see if you can find one or two of the more than 30 murals scattered throughout! If you are visiting in August, don’t miss the famous Seward Silver Salmon Derby, or the annual Mountain Marathon footrace on the Fourth of July!

Kenai Fjords National Park is one of the most popular of Alaska’s national parks! Created in 1980 to protect the most incredible wilderness, it spans over 600,000 acres with snow and ice covering nearly 60% of it! The edge of the park is lined with the famous Harding Icefield, from which tidewater glaciers pour down, forming stunning fjords.

Exit Glacier Road spurs off the Seward highway, and at the end of the 8 mile road is the Exit Glacier, the Nature Center, and hiking trails such as the Harding Icefield Trail, or the 1 mileGlacier View loop trail.
